Below are a few things I've published over the years...
Tom Turing, a new resident on the island of Maui, finds himself applying for a job with the secretive Technoverse Society.

The Maui Detective Agency is open for business! Tom Turing is soliciting clients when a puzzle, of sorts, is delivered to the agency. It isn't a case; he doesn't have a client for it, nobody is paying him cash, but people are dying and Tom thinks the deaths are connected even if the police don't.
Soon Tom is implicated in a murder he predicted, so now he has to find the actual killer or his new address on Maui will be the county jail.
This is the fourth novel in the Tom Turing series.

After the Bryant family's patriarch, nicknamed the Old Man, dies suspiciously, Tom is named the referee for a game to determine the new Old Man for the family's estate. Family members try to bribe and threaten Tom to let them win. What is the Old Man's game? Why did he choose Tom to referee the game?
The prior Old Man encourages Tom to throw the game to his favorite, and away from the black sheep of the family. What will Tom do? Tom has to choose a course of action.
This is the third novel in the Tom Turing series.

Tom Turing has the perfect summer planned: working as an instructor at Maui Island College and relaxing on a sunny beach as often as he can.
When Tom agrees to discreetly deal with a blackmailer at the request of a friend, he is drawn into the contested ownership of a drug delivery business and finds himself framed for murder. Hacking into a mysterious flash drive is the key to clearing his name, but doing so may be far more dangerous than accepting jail time for a crime he did not commit.
Tom must ignore warnings from the police and is forced to question his sense of loyalty, justice, and truth from inside the Dragon's Den.
This is the second novel in the Tom Turing series.

What is The Sword and why are people killing for it? Tom Turing is attending a cybersecurity conference on Maui, Hawaii, at the Majestic Maui Resort and Spa. A friend is murdered and the Maui Police suspect Tom is the killer. Of course several women are involved, as is money, and a mysterious collector of malware. Tom must find The Sword to clear his name.
This is the first novel in the Tom Turing series.

Warning: This is not a normal textbook.
This textbook introduces the first-semester student to computer science and what they need to know to solve problems and code solutions. Nothing extra.
It demonstrates how to solve computational problems by focusing on organizing thoughts, performing structured thinking, following standard problem solving techniques, and paying attention to the details.
The student will learn to generalize patterns and algorithms in solving a variety of problems using computational thinking. In addition the student will be encouraged to think about and decompose the problem before writing one line of code.
After learning what this textbook has to offer, the student will be able to solve a variety of problems and write decent code too.

You’re a creative person. As a creative person you use your creative impulses, desires, and instincts to improve your life, the life of your family, and the lives of the people and organizations in your community. You're a change agent. You make things happen.
Being creative is great – it makes life more interesting. Being creative helps you be successful in your career and can pay well in business, education, and other fields that are constantly changing. Being creative enables you to meet stimulating people as you pursue your creative project. Being creative helps you be a better person.
Creativity is fun but being creative all the time can be tiring. It takes discipline. It takes persistence. It takes time away from other things. It requires physical and mental energy to be creative throughout your life.
Sometimes you might hear a little voice ask, “Why bother?” You might start to wonder why you should bother being creative doing things like writing short stories, painting, preparing a delicious meal, starting a company, writing software, preparing an awesome presentation, or organizing community and family events. Why not just lie down and take a nap instead?
I get it. While I wrote this book, I experienced every obstacle I describe here as I took this creative project to the finish line. Someone once said that writing a book will change the author more than any reader. I hope so. When I’m feeling discouraged I want this book to inspire me to continue with my creative projects and I hope it will inspire you too.
No matter your age or situation, you have a lot to offer. You are unique. Share your work with the world. It’s the creative journey that changes you, not reaching the destination. Enjoy the journey. Create. Share. Repeat.

Software
NCAA Basketball Pool software
Created in 1991 using Visual Basic and Assembler. Offered on Computer bulletin board systems as shareware. Made $10 on it. I was ahead of my time!
Academic Advising Inventory System
The AAI System is adapted from the Academic Advising Inventory (AAI) developed by Roger B. Winston, Jr., Ph. D. and Janet A. Sandor, Ph. D. at The University of Georgia. I created software to enable schools to use the AAI and to minimize the time needed in administrating AAI surveys to students, to minimize the time needed to consolidate all the student surveys, and to report the results. This software is available on the National Academic Advising Association's website. This software has been used by a number of PhD candidates and schools. |
Academic Advising Program Assessment
This software tool uses the standards and guidelines for academic advising programs as defined by the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) to evaluate an Advising Program at a college or university. This software is available on the National Academic Advising Association's website and has been downloaded by hundreds of colleges and universities. |
Duke Nukem maps
Back when Duke Nukem was first released, I enjoyed playing, but I enjoyed making game maps even more. I created several maps that were downloaded tens of thousands of times from AOL (yes, it was that long ago). One map was my apartment building with a shrunken Duke Nukem running around, swimming in my water bed, and eventually shrunken down to molecular level for the final Boss fight. One map that people really enjoyed was a Borg cube with a Star Trek away ship. Through the use of creative and invisible beaming, that map allowed the player to fly around the Borg ship in any direction -- it was like it was really floating.
My typical fan email read like this, "DUDE! YOUR MAPS ROCK!"
The sentiment was appreciated.

I created a variety of diagrams when I was studying for a Masters in Academic Advising. Here is a sample:
